Today, Netflix officially announced that Wednesday Season 2 has wrapped filming. Netflix’s most watched show of all time is now in post-production.
Last week, the news had been conveyed by several unofficial sources. One crew member created a social media post that included a stylized playing card featuring colored sketches of Wednesday and Enid on the front and a message on the back. The message read, “To My Grim Companions, I offer my thanks for the many hours of blood, sweat, and ominous lighting that went into this production. If I had the capacity for warmth, I might even say it was a pleasure. But let’s not get carried away. Eternally ungrateful, Wednesday Addams.”
Jenna’s makeup artist Nirvana Jalalvand confirmed her departure from the set with a post that included a photo of her kit and the message “off to the next one…”.
What can we expect to happen in the new season? Showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar tell Netflix’s Tudum, “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore.”
Wednesday fans will need to exercise a fair bit of patience because we’re still going to be waiting the entire winter and spring before Wednesday Season 2 arrives on our screens. The post-production for S1 took eight months, so assuming it takes about the same amount of time for S2 then we will be watching the new season in July of 2025. We don’t know the exact release date but it will undoubtedly be a Wednesday. 🙂
