Last night, the Instyle Imagemaker Awards were held at a private residence in Bel Air, California. The ceremony honors influential stylists, makeup artists and hairstylists across film, television, music, and culture. As is its custom, each honoree is introduced by someone who knows their work and their impact best: their clients who trust them, collaborate with them, and have built lasting relationships with them.
In the case of Enrique Melendez, it was Jenna. Enrique is Jenna’s personal stylist, and he is frequently seen at her side during appearances at major events. Jenna introduced Enrique with a short speech and then presented him with the Future of Fashion award for his career accomplishments.
Here was Jenna’s emotional dedication:
“Enrique was one of the first people who ever made me feel seen or heard. He’s got such a great sense of self, but more than anything, he’s my friend. I first met Enrique when I was fourteen-years-old. It was kind of a chance happening. He came in and was kind of doing a favor for someone super last-minute. He came super over-prepared. It was a simple event. He had all these bags. He didn’t like the way that my socks were sitting, so he got down on his hands and knees and gingerly was rolling these socks for what felt like ages. And I remember looking over at my mom and and kind of going, I go, ‘What is this guy’s problem?’ His meticulousness is one of my favorite things if not my favorite thing about working with him, amidst his vision which is always so clear and so powerful and so obviously him.”
Enrique accepted the award and said, “I think women in this industry have – women in the world, period – have it so difficult. I’m just grateful that I can support [Jenna] and many of my other clients along their journey of self-discovery.”
Other A-list attendees at the event included Riley Keough, Lisa Rinna, Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Biel, Heidi Klum, Brittany Snow, Kerry Washington, Laura Dern, Olandria Carthren, Adam Sandler and George Clooney.
