Recently, Winona Ryder had a lengthy interview with Harper’s Bazaar, and the accompanying article included comments from Jenna that reveal a special relationship between the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-stars.
When she was young, Jenna admired Winona for her role in the original Beetlejuice movie.
“Everyone wanted to be Lydia after watching the first film. She’s so self-assured and smart and ahead of her time.”
The pair met around the period when Jenna’s popularity was blowing up with her role as Wednesday Addams. Winona, who also experienced fame at a young age, was incredibly generous and became a guide and inspiration.
“She definitely helped me feel less alone,” Jenna told the publication. “[Fame is] a very isolating experience and a scary one. Being able to speak to somebody who had witnessed that firsthand, maybe even more, was a great source of comfort for me, and I can’t thank her enough for that.”
This isn’t the first time that Jenna praised Winona. Back in February, Jenna told E! News what she thought of her onscreen mother.
“Winona is just the loveliest, sweetest — just one of my favorite people I think I’ve ever met,” she said. “I love her a lot and I felt really grateful to get to know her and work with her—she is just an angel on this planet.”
